Akwa United Football Club of Uyo, on Wednesday forced Kwara United FC of Ilorin to a 1-1 draw.
The MatchDay 4 of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter was played at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
The first opportunity of the match came to Kwara United in the sixth minute when Kamaldeen Sikiru freed Alao Danbani but he was flagged offside.
Three minutes later, Kwara United had another chance to go in front when Joshua Agboola dribbled his way to the Akwa box but the visitors’ defenders were quick to clear their line.
Akwa United’s Charles Okafor cleared Mohammed Aliyu’s beautiful pass inside the opposition’s box in one of the most dangerous chances in the game.
Michael Ohanu missed one of the finest opportunities of the match when he headed Taiwo Salaudeen’s pass in the 23rd minute.
Three minutes later, Akwa United’s Ikechukwu Nwani benefitted from a misguided pass, but his effort was dealt with by Kwara’s goalkeeper Abdulateef Ishola.
Wilson Elu would have put the visitors ahead in the 31rd minute but he glided his shot from Kwara’s 18 yard box.
