Jigawa Stun Imama's Abia Warriors 3-1 in Aba
By China Acheru
Imama Amapakabor's woes at Abia Warriors continued on MatchDay 4 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as his side fell again, 1-3 at home to Jigawa Golden Stars.
Imama's side had lost their last three games in the league against Enyimba, Rivers United and Akwa United, entering Match Day 4 without a point. And then it seemed like they were going to shake off their lethargic start to the season when in the 7th minute, Utibe Arit Archibong put them ahead when he headed home from an Nzube Anaezemba free kick.
Surely, it would be the best way to start winning games in the league, but Jigawa Golden Stars had other ideas.
In the 24th minute, Olasukanmi Quadiri drew level following a scramble in Abia Warriors goal area.
With the first half ending 1-1 Abia Warriors had a chance to go ahead on the hour mark when Nzube Anaezemba was fouled in the box, but Fatai Abdullahi missed the spot kick.
Jigawa Golden Stars struck and did it in style with a brace from former Go Round FC man, Samuel Stone.
In the 74th minute, he beat his marker to slot past Vincent Edafe, off a pass from Musa Ali.
Samuel Stone got his brace with five minute left to play when he scored after superb team work and off a pass from Mohammed Gidado.
